The Claim:
When called off the road and are instructed to hostle power not in connection with your train within switching limits and appropriate hostlers/yardmen were available
The Penalty is for 130 mile basic day as per PLB #5912, Case #125, Award 125
Required Documentation:
A COPY OF YOUR FEDERAL TIE-UP.
A copy of your federal tie-up
Any track inquiry, train list, power report, of BU that you can print and show the power on your train
Train equipment trace (MyUP - Train - Equipment Trace- Locomotive ID) Showing the unit(s) improperly handled.
A printed snapshot of the Switchman/Hostler Extra Board, showing available switchmen/hostler
List Unit Numbers, Yard, Tracks, and times:
For Cutting away, changing directions, etc.
For moves entering, shoving, coming against other power/trains
For coming back against your train
You cannot have too much documentation on these claims
Keep track of who instructed you to perform the service (yardmaster's or manager's title and name)

WAS CALLED OFF THE (CIRC 7 AND BOARD) ON (DATE) @ ____ HRS FOR THE (ROAD JOB/SYMBOL) . AFTER ARRIVING AT (CIRC 7) AT ____ HRS WAS INSTRUCTED PER (YARDMASTER/MANAGER’S NAME) TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING HOSTLING MOVE WITH NO CONNECTION TO MY ASSIGNMENT:
AFTER TYING MY TRAIN DOWN IN (TRACK #) I CUT OFF LOCOMOTIVES #_____ AND TOOK THEM TO (TRACK #) AND ATTACHED THEM TO (TRAIN SYMBOL IF AVAILABLE, IF NOT AVAILABLE THEN PUT HEAD CAR OR LOCO NUMBER THAT YOU ATTACHED TO) I THEN CUT IN THE AIR TO THE TRAIN. (INCLUDE ALL DETAILS: UNIT NUMBER(S), YARD, TRACK#, TIMES, ROUTE TAKEN, ETC). CLAIM BASIC DAY FOR HOSTLING POWER NOT IN CONNECTION WITH TRAIN AS PER PLB#5912, CASE#125, AWARD 125, AND SBA 18, AWARD 5978.

MAKE CERTAIN TO PASS ALL PERTINENT INFO ALONG TO THE PERSON(S) THAT SHOULD HAVE PROPERLY BEEN CALLED TO PERFORM THE WORK, AS THEY ALSO SHOULD FILE A MISHANDLING CLAIM.
